Trekking
Mount Kilimanjaro
Mount Kilimanjaro
is the highest mountain in Africa. Commonly known as the "Roof
of Africa," Kilimanjaro is just 3 degrees south of the equator
yet maintains a snowcap all year long. The mountain has two peaks:
Kibo (5,895 meters) and Mawenzi (5,149 meters).
Kilimanjaro is
climable throughout the year except during the rainy season in April
and May. There are two common routes to the peak: Marangu and Machame.
Other routes are more challenging: Umbwe, Mweka and Shira.
